Hi everyone,

I just wondered if anyone else had experienced pain in their breast bone (sternum)? I got up this morning and felt as if I'd slept in a strange position. I have had a kind of achey feeling in my breastbone all day. Feels like someone sat on me all last night! (They may have but I wasn't aware BigGrin ) Feels very strange.

Hi Julie

I have a problem with RA in the sternum which has caused inflammation over the damaged bone. Most of the time I don't notice it but occasionally it gives some problems, an aching, heavy sensation but no soreness or anything. I only found out about it because my daughter kindly pointed out the 'lump' on my chest (kind of just below my neck and more a raised patch than a lump) and I thought I should ask some questions. I then had an ultrasound scan which showed up the small amount of damage.

I think I'm just unlucky on this one because I haven't come across anyone else with the problem. Perhaps you did sleep in an odd position but if it doesn't go in a week or so I think I would be inclined to get it checked out.

Thanks Lyn, I think I must have laid on one side for too long, I feel kind of 'buckled' (heavy and achey just as you said). Am having a bit of a flare as I couldn'd move my hands when I got up for a good few minutes either.

How are you. Are you still tolerating the methotrexate? Have only just started catching up on how everyone is on the forum. It sounds like you are still going through the mill too.

Hello Julie

Gosh sounds very uncomfortable I hope today you are feeling much better.
I have not experienced this but I can imagine how it must feel.

Sort it out though if it continues

Ooops - I think I was in a bit of a panic as the pain was in my chest. I feel a lot better today thanks, it's almost gone now.

Thanks very much for your support.

Must have been all that climbing in your flimsy green dress that caused it! LOL LOL

Hi Julie

Hope you are feeling much much better now. I have had this several times and am always scared - I usually end up thinking I'm having a heart attack!! My rheummy says it is probably inflamation of the ribs and sternum, and it always goes away again!

Take care - looking forward to seeing you in May.

Lots of love

I must confess, that's what I was thinking Jean. I was talking to Julian last night and am going to try to book the hotel for Saturday night. There will be three of us for lunch if you don't mind counting us in please? I'm going to check on the other thread to make sure I book the right hotel - LOL - I have been known to make mistakes!

As for the green dress Doreen, I went to get it out for last weekend and it had disintigrated completely - can't inmagine why.

Pleased to hear Julie, all is ok now, can understand your concern - we have to contend with so much.
